1. Matthias Church

Near the Fisherman’s Bastion lies Matthias Church, one of the stunning spot in Budapest and a popular Instagram destination. Even if you are just visiting Budapest for the day, you ought to see both attractions.

The church is a monument to Budapest’s architectural mastery and rich history, with its intricate rose windows and diamond-patterned roof tiles.

The church’s breathtaking interior may be photographed for a fee, or you can obtain a good shot from the exterior at no cost.

I woke up to this view while staying in an Airbnb near the parliament. However, if you want to capture the greatest shots of the Hungarian Parliament from the other side of the river bank, you will need to cross the Danube.

This viewpoint faces the Parliament building directly and is situated on the Buda side of the Danube.

5. Castle Hill Funicular

The second oldest funicular in the world is the Castle Hill Funicular, which opened to tourists in 1870.

It’s the quickest route to the summit of Castle Hill, and many love it for the amazing views of the Danube, Chain Bridge, and St. Stephen’s Basilica in the distance.

Long lineups of people frequently form during the warmer months to ride the funicular up the hill. The most effective action plan is to visit the castle on foot, where lines are frequently much shorter, and then ride the funicular back down.

Alternatively, you may stroll to the tiny bridge that spans the funicular line, where you can take in the breathtaking scenery and watch the carts as they go up and down for as long as you like.

Whether you visit the Chain Bridge at dawn, late at night, or in the early morning, it is a sight to behold. It is the most identifiable feature in the city that connects Buda and Pest and one of the most photogenic locations in Budapest.

At the entrance to the bridge, two lions may be seen from either side. Regretfully, the bridge was closed to vehicles and pedestrians for construction when I was there.

You may visit at any time of day, although it’s advisable to get there before traffic begins in the morning because the bridge is crowded throughout.

7. View from Gellert Hill

The Hapsburg monarchy built the Citadel atop Gellert Hill to remind the insurgent Hungarians who dominated the nation after the failed protest in 1948–49.

The convenient location was meant to make it simple to end any future uprisings in Buda and Pest.

The Liberty or Freedom Statue honors those who gave their lives defending Hungary’s independence, freedom, and prosperity. It is located in front of the Citadel.

In 1896, the monument was constructed in honor of Hungary’s millennium. You can take the M1 metro line and get out at the “Hosok Tere” station.

You must get up early and head there at sunrise if you want an empty square! Otherwise, obtaining a good picture is tough because Heroes Square is generally filled during the day.

9. Liberty Bridge

Another stunning building that needs your attention is the Liberty Bridge. It links Gellért Hill and Spa on the Buda side with the Great Market Hall on the Pest side.

Constructed in the late 1800s as a component of the Millennium World Exhibition, the bridge showcases an elaborate Art Nouveau design that includes sculptures and the Hungarian coat of arms.

Starting at the Gellert Hill Cave entrance is one of the greatest spots to see and take pictures of Liberty Bridge.

To be really honest, though, I feel that the New York Cafe in Budapest is a little overhyped; the costs are high considering the quality of the food, and there’s a lengthy wait for a table.
